Doodling with Sharpies

It's been a while since I last did much doodling. But just recently I picked up the art book again, hunted out some pens, and started once again. With the help of a book given to me as a Christmas present, Zenspirations Letters and Patterning by Joanne Fink, and a new set of 24 Sharpies, I set out to discover a new style of doodling.

This doodle is actually similar to the sort I did before I started using my book, with the round pattern. But the rings of the circle all have patterns in them, and the leaves around the edge are an interesting way to finish this picture off. All the patterns I used here were patterns that are taught in the book.

In contrast, this picture is very different. Here I tried patterning between wavy lines, using not only the patterns taught in the book, but patterns I made up myself. The Sharpies have lovely bright colours that are really eye catching and I think the colours are my favourite part of this picture.

So, ever onwards with the doodline. Maybe soon I'll learn how to doodle impressive letters of the alphabet. Or make a picture with birds, butterflies and flowers. With my new book and my trusty Sharpies, I'm ready to doodle once again.

  1. ~They`re both such pretty doodles! The first one reminds me of a Kolam, with the beautiful flower design ^^ The second one reminds me of snakes! Really nice! =)

    1. Thank you River. I hadn't heard of Kolams before, but after looking them up, I can definitely see the similarities.

    1. Shhh, I can't call it anything else, otherwise I won't be able to even do that. I'm not artistic you know. Doodling is all I can manage!
