Magic, Minstrels and Script Frenzy

I've written several posts about Script Frenzy so far this month. I've talk about what Script Frenzy is, what I've been writing, and how I've been writing. I've posted about what scripting program I'm using and I've even posted some Script Frenzy inspired art. However today I want to share the news of my triumph. Yes, Charlotte and I have written our 100 pages of script.

It's been so much fun writing a script. Magic and Minstrels, our musical, finished up with 89 pages and a lot of laughing. Somehow, every script writing session had to have a laugh or two in it as the characters went from one hilarious situation to another.

But that's not our only project. We also started writing a TV series based off the Father Brown Stories by G.K. Chesterton. We've only just started the first two episodes. What about the rest of the series? Is it fated never to be written?

No! We've got plans for the rest of the month, plans that involve much, much more script writing. Fr Brown is quite safe while there are days in the month. We could stop writing...But we won't. Because we love it. Script Frenzy, the page count is going to rise.

  1. Fr. Brown... That's come up before... How did you get such a quirky concept for your play to work out so fast?

Sorry if it sounds like spam, but if Window on the South isn't updating, stop following and search for thatroundwindow... (it's the same site.)

    1. Thanks for letting me know about the change for Window on the South. I was wondering if you hadn't written anything for a while, or whether there was a problem. I've switched over now.

I was quite expecting the play to go on for much longer, but surprisingly it cleared itself up fairly quickly. I'm looking forwards to going back and making it better later, once I've let it sit. There's some fun stuff in there and I can't wait to make it all fit together nicely.

    1. We certainly haven't stopped writing yet. In fact we had another script writing marathon this very afternoon. We took it in turns to write, one script writing and one novel writing, switching every 15 minutes. Somehow it made it so much easier to sit there are writer for hours because we changed subject so often. It's a trick I'll have to remember for later.

Yes, never stop writing. From the sounds of it all, you are too brilliant a writer.

    1. I certainly don't feel like a brilliant writer. Somehow, I think I'm a quantity rather than a quality writer. But maybe revision will sort that out.

    1. I'm sure you could write a play is you wanted to. I'd never written a play before, but somehow I managed it. The hardest thing I found in writing the musical was that I couldn't describe all the actions, the settings and the characters. It was all words. For a novel writer that was a bit frustrating. Screen writing is so much better in that respect.

  5. Wow, congratulations on your writing! You're quite dedicated! O.o

I've written one or two bits of script, but never a full play. You've made me want to give it a try!

Also, letting you know that I tagged you! See http://raindropsandmoonlight.blogspot.com/2012/04/tagged.html if you'd like to do it. I'd love to read your answers. :)

    1. You really should try writing a full play. It's definitely worth a try. We had great fun, especially when the weird characters started turning up. Script writing is very different to novel writing, but still very enjoyable.
