If you've been reading my blog for any length of time, you'll already know that I love the NaNoWriMo events. I completed NaNoWriMo last November, and Script Frenzy this April. Now, a new event looms close on the horizon: Camp NaNoWriMo.
Camp NaNoWriMo has only been around since last year. It's exactly the same as NaNoWriMo, except that it takes place in June. Oh, and in August. Camp NaNoWriMo runs two sessions a year.
Well, as soon as I heard of this, I knew I just had to sign up. After last year's NaNoWriMo, I can't wait to race through 50,000 words again. I want to sit at my desk every spare minute, racing against the calendar. And this is novel writing. Much as I enjoyed Script Frenzy, I am a novel writer at heart.
So, I'm plotting a new story, washing my writing gloves and packing my bags for Camp NaNoWriMo. Anyone else care to join me?
This is JUST what I needed! I'm very excited now! I'm going to have to look into this.
ReplyDeletePlease do! I'm always so excited when someone I know joins me in these events. It makes it all so much more fun.
DeleteYou must take after your mother Imogene! She is a gifted writer and no doubt you are too. Enjoy your camp and perhaps one day, you'll be on tour promoting your book!
ReplyDeleteI think, if I'm very lucky, I might be as good as Mum one day.
DeleteI will enjoy my camp thank you. A whole month dedicated to writing! What could be better?
Ha! I'm in the process now of an impromptu May NaNo with some members of the Fantasy Writing Yahoo group. This is my first shot and man is it HARD! I'm doing it solely to silence the internal editor! I had no idea how much I stopped and edited while writing.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as though you were successful. I applaud your efforts and have an enormous amount of respect and admiration for anyone who attempts it--much less completes it. I'm a bit behind target at the moment, but am chugging along.
I'll probably be spent come June, but I'll happily root on the sidelines as you plug away. Care to divulge any plotting details? I'm curious as to how detailed you get in your plotting before starting these things.
It always helps if you have plenty of time during your day to write. Last year, for NaNoWriMo, I was still homeschooling, which meant I had plenty of time to write in. Most days I managed 5,000 words.
DeleteFor Camp NaNoWriMo I won't have so much time, but I'm still pretty confident about finishing it.
Behind target means nothing! I bet you'll finish with the right amount of words anyway. It's very common in NaNoWriMo circles.
I might post about my preparation for this event. I joined NaNoWriMo about a week before it was set to begin, and so didn't have much time for planning then. I'm working on planning this novel however, as I'd like to finish up with a draft I can revise properly later.
Good luck with your camp, Immy! Do you have any plans to approach a publisher? I'd love to read your work :-)
ReplyDeleteI would like to have a book published eventually. Only I have to write something worth publishing first. Maybe, when I have done some revision, you might like to test read it for me?
DeleteI wish you the very best of luck with Camp NaNoWriMo, Imogene! Right now, I'm currently rewriting and reworking my WIP, so I won't be participating this summer. But I hope you have an amazing time scribbling down 50K!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Thanks Taylor. I'm sure I will enjoy Camp NaNo. I've been planning every month from now until the end of December to be filled with writing and rewriting.
DeleteGood luck with your reworking of your WIP.
Sounds like you're nearly ready, then! :) And thank you, I appreciate the well-wishes!
